Kirkland is home to a great number of small businesses that are locally owned, that source materials and goods locally, and that sell locally made products. Local businesses are at the heart of Kirkland’s unique commercial community, and they are deeply supported, admired and valued by residents and visitors alike. More than 50% of Kirkland’s licensed businesses self-describe as home-based businesses. This vibrant ecosystem of micro-enterprises, many that are women, immigrant and minority-owned, contributes heartily to the economic vitality of Kirkland and to the vibrancy of the culture and appeal of our City.
The Shop Local Kirkland initiative was launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to connect Kirkland’s businesses with shoppers and to help the smallest businesses survive the negative economic impacts of the pandemic. The City has poured effort and resources into this platform. Supporting local businesses has never been so important as it is now. Our City thanks you deeply for your interest and patronage.
