akaihana

Hello! My name is Shizu, the owner of akaihana. I started akaihana (means red flower in Japanese) about the late 90's in Japan with my mom and a friend. We had old Kimonos in our house, some was children's kimono that my grandmother made it for my mom when she was little, some was even the kimono that was made from silk thread my great grandmother dyed, weaved, then sew to kimono. Many were damaged by age, so we use those remnants to make handmade pieces so we can keep and use them everyday. That was how we started, now I make handmade pieces (scrunchies/bags/purses/ scarves etc) with materials such as old Kimono, new fabric, or anything that inspires me to give them another life. I hope you can find something you love. Local DropOff/PickUp available, please feel free to reach me anytime!
